For some reason, if you just install R on Mac OS X, you don't have a working Tcl/Tk by default. The problem manifests itself like this: tkplot(g) Loading required package: tcltk Loading Tcl/Tk interface. Error:.onLoad failed in loadNamespace for 'tcltk', details: call: dyn.load(file, DLLpath = DLLpath.). I was not sure whether the list of items included: 'Intel Macs, Tcl/Tk 8.6.6 X11 libraries and Texinfo 5.2' was missing a comma between 8.6.6 and X11 libraries or conversely that TCL/Tk 8.6.6 was supposed to indicate a particular version of Quartz. The Tcl/Tk interface can successfully load. See for details. From within the R console, the package can be installed with: install.packages('MAR1', repos='dependencies=TRUE) To load the MAR1 package in the current R session: library(MAR1) Prepare the dataset.
The R-Tcl/Tk interface Peter Dalgaard Abstract The tcltk package allows the use of the Tk graphical user interface ele-ments from within R by embedding Tk commands into the R language. The design considerations are discussed, and also the shortcomings of the current implementation. Tcl is not the fastest in heavy number-crunching, as needed when going over many thousands of pixels, but I wouldn't consider C for a fun project;) So take your time, or get a real CPU. At least you can watch the progress, as the target image is updated after every row. Edge enhancement by Laplace5 filter.
Caveat. I know almost nothing about homebrew other than its function and the fact that users of it often have problems with installing R properly. The CRAN page for the Mac R 3.4.2 fork says:

So it makes me wonder if you need to add the correct versions of the underlying system packages in a manner that your homebrew installation can find them. (the 3.3 fork uses a differnt version of Tcl/Tk.)

This directory contains binaries for a base distribution and packages to run on Mac OS X (release 10.6 and above). Mac OS 8.6 to 9.2 (and Mac OS X 10.1) are no longer supported but you can find the last supported release of R for these systems (which is R 1.7.1) here. Releases for old Mac OS X systems (through Mac OS X 10.5) and PowerPC Macs can be found in the old directory.
Note: CRAN does not have Mac OS X systems and cannot check these binaries for viruses.Although we take precautions when assembling binaries, please use the normal precautions with downloaded executables.
Package binaries for R versions older than 3.2.0 are only available from the CRAN archive so users of such versions should adjust the CRAN mirror setting (https://cran-archive.r-project.org) accordingly.
